Where Do I Start???

Thank goodness for Ashley's house. I am over at Ashley Paxman's house and her internet does not kick me off when I try to post pictures so here it goes! Sorry, I don't have a lot of time, but this is just a little update of what I've been up to for the past little while! Love you all! Thanks for not giving up on my blog!!!
These are in opposite order of when they happened, but that's ok. This is just the girl cousins who were up at the cabin for Thanksgiving. Left to Right and Top: Trisha, Leslie, Betsy, Aubry, Sarah. Bottom: Cynthia, Brooke, Kristen, Aryn, Amy, and Me!

Mmmm...Food!!!

This is some of my friends and me waiting for "Twilight" the movie to start. We were there 4 hours early...so we were pretty bored.

This is part of a group I started called The Ladies in Waiting! Haha. We are all waiting for missionaries. Its fun to have a group of girls to hang out with! Left to Right: Kellsi, Me, Kattie, Jayne, Aubrey!

This was at my friend Jessica's 19th birthday party. It was an 80's party!!! How do you like my hair? Lol!

Gotta Love Politics!

I must say I am incredibly glad that this election is over. Although it was not the outcome I wanted, it was the one I was expecting. I am curious to see the path this country is going to take over the next 4 years with liberals controling everything. We shall see. We shall see.

On a side note; I tried posting pictures a while back, and once again it kicked me off the internet for trying to upload pictures. It is so strange! Oh well. I will keep trying, but if there are not any pictures on here for a while you know why!

Ok, I love you all! May God bless America and you!

Sometimes...

Sometimes I wish I had some cute little kiddos, so that people would leave comments on my blog! Lol. I know I'm not that interesting, or cute, so I don't blame anyone for not leaving me comments, but if only I had some cute little kids! Then things would be different! Haha. Ok. I'm done with my pitty party! Love ya!

I was photo tagged, and now that I can post photos again I can actually do it! Lol.

I was picture tagged my lovely sister Emily. So here ya go...the 4th picture in my 4th album. It's great isn't it?! I randomly take pictures of myself when I am bored. This is one of those moments. I had gone with Josh to a concert at 8:00 pm. The concert didn't actually start until about 10:00. So we were just sitting around talking. Then Josh's long lost friend came and joined us so they were chatting away, while I, being the bored person that I was, took pictures of myself! Enjoy! I wish is was a picture of something interesting, but its not. Sorry! Oh yeah, and I tag anyone who feels like doing it, but hasn't gotten tagged yet! Love you guys!

Let's See If This Works This Time!

I've been trying to get these pictures up on my blog for a few weeks now, but it would just make my interent stop working...Weird I know, but its true. I could not post pictures. But now it is magically fixed, so here we go. Three weeks ago my friends and I went up to Pinetop. Whitney and I were both going for our friend Kevin's wedding reception, and we just invited Ashley to come along. The more the marrier right? Anyway, so then somehow or other my friend Ryan's Dad found out that we were going up there and he was flying down from Utah and needed a ride up the mountain. So he got to ride in a car full of 3 young girls for 3+ hours! Haha. Fun, eh?! These are some of the adventures we had along the way.
I went to my friend Necia's bridal shower while I was up there. She was getting married the following week. They had a toilet paper wedding dress contest. We split into 5 groups, with one model (my group nominated me) for each group. Our group won! Hooray. This is my dress. I've got to admit. It is pretty cute. Necia got to crown me. Isn't my tiara lovely?

This is not a great picture of me, but this is my friend Kevin who just got married. We've been friends since first grade! He just got baptized last year in September. Some friends and I gave him a Book of Mormon for Christmas in 2006. So we were so excited that he got baptized. And now we are even more excited because he got married in the temple a year later!

This is my friend Brandon (Kevin's best friend) We've been friends for a really long time too. It was good to see him again, because I haven't seen him in over a year.

This picture isn't the best quality, but this is Kevin and Alyssa Miketta (and her sister Andrea)! They were just so happy! It was wonderful to get to see both of them!

This is what happened on the way home. Rob Crimm (my friend's Dad) who had been riding with us on the way up had driven his car home back to Utah, so it was just us girls on the way back down the mountain. We were just about to hit Fountain Hills when we heard a grinding on the road. I pulled over, and sure enough, we had a flat tire. I have tried (along with a few guys who've tried) to use my jack to change a flat tire, but it's pretty much worthless. So I called Cynthia and Chris, and we took pictures instead of trying to do anything to fix it! Haha.

What are we to do???

I know! I know! We can take pictures with the tire (and other random objects we may find)!!!

Leaving Home...

This is me lifting the car with my amazing super strength while Whitney tries to change the tire! Yeah, we were a little bored!

We needed a ride REALLY BAD! Haha. No. I'm just joking. We were fine, and we only took this shot when there were no cars around. I want you all to know that we're not complete morons... I promise!

Luckily the nice PoPo decided to save us! Of course he didn't get there until a few minutes before Cynthia and Chris arrived. Sorry guys for making you drive out there! What wonderful siblings they are!

Thanks nice police man! You saved the day!

THE END!

Nevermind

Nevermind. I guess I just can't get comments on those posts...weird.

What the ???

For some reason Blogger thought it would be cool to no longer allow comments to be made on my posts. That is so weird. I changed the setting so that I had to approve the comment before it was posted, but now no one can even write a comment to post. Does anyone know why this is happening, because I love to get comments and would be really sad if no one could ever post again. Email me if you have the solution! Thanks.

Tradition! Tradition!

My friends Ashley and Whitney and I decided that we are going to go do baptisms for the dead every Wednesday. We went last week and yesterday. It is great to be able to go with friends. I'm glad to be starting this tradition! We went to the Visitor's Center afterwards and watched a walk through video on the plan of happiness and how families can be together forever! It was awesome! I loved it! I love Whit and Ash! They are two of my very best friends, and it fun to have this special time with them every week!

My Crazy Life in a Nut Shell!

Ok, so I have to start out as of a few weeks ago. As far as most of you know Josh broke up with me and that was the end of things with us...that's not exactly true.
A few days after Elder Crandell "Dear Janed" me, he "Un-Dear Janed" me. He said he realized that he couldn't live without me and he didn't know why he had even written that other letter. He wanted things to go back to how they were.
It was then that I had to do the hardest thing I'd ever done. I wrote Josh a "We're still broken up" letter. I knew that this was not coincidence, but an answer to our prayers. I wrote him a long letter explaining how I knew this was for the best and that this was the only way that he would be able to be the best missionary he could be. I even recorded myself reading it to him, because I didn't want him to take it the wrong way. This letter was sent off last Thursday, and I honestly had no idea how he would react to it. All I could do was trust in the Lord and PRAY that he would understand why it had to be this way. I could never live with myself if I were the reason that he had regrets about his mission.
I got an email from him today. He got my letter, and he completely agreed! He said that he had recieved a witness as well that this was for the best. He was having a hard time before the break up, but had an even harder time after. It was then, at the end of his rope that he heard a voice enter into his head simply stating the same thing I had said over and over in my letter (which he had not read yet). "God is in control." He said he felt an immediate peace, and has been fine ever since. I have felt that same way since the day after he broke up with me. God is in control.
It just never ceases to amaze me what the Lord does for me, and how he works. This experience has taught me so much about myself, and about the Lord. I love him so much! And I know for a fact that everything that happens is for a reason. I have more faith in Him right now then I ever have before! He is AMAZING! I love him!
So, anyway, Josh and I are still broken up, but definitely have hope for the future. He really is a great young man and I'm so glad that now he can fully concentrate. I am still writing him, but just as friends. Well, that's that. Sorry if this isn't very interesting...I just thought I'd give a little update! Love you! And may God bless you as he has blessed me!

The Lord's Tender Mercies!

I just feel like blogging about this particular subject. I have felt the Lord's hand in my life so many times, and today was no different. I have a friend...we'll call her Joe (yes she is a SHE). This friend and I have been very close for a long time. I have had so many experiences with her that I would not trade for the world. Anyway, we always seem to know when the other one is feeling down. It's like the Lord always inspires this friend in particular to say something or do something on the days that I am simply not doing that great. On the day Josh broke up with me she sent me a text (we don't text or talk on a day to day basis, but we do quite often I guess). Now usually its just a "Hey Andrea! How are you doing?" or something like that. But on that day she wrote me a longer text saying something to the extent of "Hey Andrea. You are such an amazing person. I love you. I hope you just have the best day ever." Now this would be nice on any other day, but it was NEEDED on this day. I just broke into tears. This is not the first time this has happened with Joe. Tonight I got to return the favor a little bit. I sent her a text that simply stated "Joe, I love you!" She told me how badly she had needed that. It never ceases to amaze me what the Lord does for me daily. I feel his love all the time, and I just want to show him how much I love him as well. He has blessed me with such a wonderful family, amazing friends, and just an awesome life in general. I just want to shout for joy at what He has done for me! That's it. I love you all! Goodbye for now!

Everything Happens For a Reason.

Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life. I cried and cried until I had no more tears. Then I realized that everything happens for a reason. This is a growing experience for me and is teaching me to completely put my life in the Lord's hands. I know he has a plan for me, and for Josh. If his plan is to let us be together forever once Josh gets home from his mission then that would be wonderful. But if he has a different idea in mind then that is what's best. The Lord knows best. He knows me better than I know myself and he will not forsake me. The other day I prayed long and hard for Josh. I prayed that he would be the best missionary he possibly could be, and that if I was destracting him he would have the courage and strength to do what he needed to, despite the fact that it may hurt me in the process. I knew I was not strong enough to do it, but I also knew that Josh wants to be the best missionary he can be, and he doesn't want anything to come between that. This needed to be done. I know it did. This is an answer to my prayer. I also prayed for myself, that I would be able to understand the reasoning behind it all, and that I would have comfort at this time. And believe it or not I have felt such a peace since yesterday. It didn't stop my heart from hurting, or missing Josh, but it was an all over comfort I know only the Lord can produce. I have faith in him that everything will work out in the end. I know this is for the best. The Lord and prophets council guys not to have girls waiting for them while they're on their missions, and now I know why. It takes a huge toll on both people. I KNOW the Lord loves me. And I KNOW he has a plan for me. And I know that if things are meant to be they will be. I have grown so much spiritually from this experience, I don't even know how to tell you. The Lord lives. He answers prayers. And he is always there when we need him. I love him so much, and I love you all as well. Thank you for your love and concern for me. And thank you for your prayers.

My Life

I just thought I'd let everyone know that Josh just "Dear Janed" me. I don't know what to think, and I am at a complete loss as of what to do. I would really appreciate everyone's prayers at this time. Thank you. I love you all.

Just a Little Update!

This is Josh with his companion, and roommates at the MTC.

This is Josh and Elder Halverson, his trainer. The church building was an old doctor's office.

This is Josh with his "good friend" Samuel Smith.

This is the Shanondoah River. I think it looks really pretty in the picture, but Josh says it's actually rather gross.

This is just an update on my missionary. Elder Crandell has been serving in a little town in Virginia called Stanley. Stanley is a small town of only about 1500 people. His apartment is pretty small and not what you'd call nice (but then again he is a missionary, so what else is new?) and there is a train that goes by about 3 times a night that is only 15 feet outside his window! He sent me tape and had me listen to a "small one"! It didn't seem very small to me at all, and it was VERY loud! Anyway he likes it there, but he says everyone is pretty set in their Baptist ways. They only have 18 active members in the branch, but they have given away a few copies of the Book of Mormon, and they go tracting A LOT! He is doing well. He likes his companion for the most part, although he said sometimes he's tempted to throw him off a cliff when no one is watching. Haha. No, they really do get along alright. They just aren't the greatest friends in the world. He hasn't told me any incredibly neat stories yet, but I'll be sure to write them down when I hear them! As for now, here are some pictures. Sorry, I don't know how to get it so the pictures will be beneath all the writing, unless I re-type everything above the pictures. So this will have to do.

Living Life in the Past!

This is me in 1960. Or atleast an idea of what I might look like. I think it's pretty accurate!
The above picture is a picture of what I may have looked like in 1976. I really love the hair. I think I might do it in real life!
Can you guess which era this one is from? The 80's you say?!? Who on earth would guess that?! No, I'm just joking. This is from 1984!

And now, last but definitely not least. This is me in 1992. I think this one his my favorite of these pictures! I had a fun time doing this. If you want to try this the websight is yearbookyourself.com!

I recently "yearbooked myself." I uploaded my picture and put it on the head of someone else. I think some of them turned out rather nice. What do you think?

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like everyone to know that I started the below post on Saturday night. I may be a dumb blonde, but atleast I did not break the Sabbath for a churro!

Love you all!

AND THE WINNER OF THE "DUMBEST DUMB BLONDE" CONTEST IS......ANDREA BROOKSBY!!!!

I just recently became a blonde and I think this new hair color suites me well because I had one heck of a blonde moment tonight!
Ok, so I have to start on a little side note. I get these random cravings for things that I don't eat often, and until I get what I want I continue to crave it. Sometimes these cravings can last for weeks! So on Thursday night I saw a commercial that made me start craving a churro. I haven't had a churro in a very long time and I really, really wanted one! Well tonight I finally got a chance to go get my churro and I came into a little adventure on the way!
Now on with the story. They sell these churros at the store called Water and Ice, on Gilbert and McKellips (about a half a mile from where I live). So my cousin Trisha and I went to go get some food from taco bell, stop by the grocery store for my aunt Nancy, and to get some churros for a treat! We decided to run and get the churros first because it was already 8:15 pm, and we didn't know what time Water and Ice closed. So we ran over there, payed, and grabbed the four remaining churros out of the warmer. We were happy because we had needed four of them, and those were the last four left! After we got to the car Trisha decided that we should take the churros home so that her car wouldn't get all cinnamony while we're out and about doing our other errands. So we take the churros home and put them on the counter. Then we went and got the food and stuff from the grocery store and came home to eat dinner. After we had all finished eating of course we wanted to try our delicious churros! Trisha and I had told everyone that they probably needed to be warmed up before we ate them because we didn't think the warmer was on anymore. When we had taken the churros out of the warmer they weren't very warm, and we just assumed that it was because it was close to closing time so they had turned it off. So Nancy is getting ready to nuke her churro, but before she does that she tries to pull off a piece of it just to try it. She tugs at the end and it won't tear off...she tugs again and still nothing happens. So she says, "These are really hard and kind of rubbery. Are churros supposed to be like this?" She then proceeds to bend the churro back and forth like a big stick of rubber would bend, and then she tries to take a BITE! She laughs and says, "Girls these ARE rubber. Where are the real ones?" She thought that Trisha and I had taken it upon ourselves to play a practical joke on her. Simultaniously Trisha and I start busting out laughing! We had taken DISPLAY CHURROS from the store!!!!! We looked at the clock. The place closed at 9:00, and it was already 9:02, but we hurried over there and started walking through the door. The girl who had helped us earlier, and some other kids who worked there were just closing up. Trisha walked up to the door first and I was following behind her with the rubber churros, wrapped in napkins as to not get the "cinnamon" on my hands. When they saw Trisha all three said, "We're closed!" And then they got a look at me, rubber churros in hand, bright red, and laughing my head off! They said..."Oh hey! Thanks for bringing those back! We have your churros for you. We were just about to take them home to eat them ourselves!" So as we put our "churros" (one of which had my aunt Nancy's bite mark in it) back where they belonged, in the not warm, "warmer", I read what it said right on the front, as clear as can be. "Warmer and Display." Wow! It said it right there! The girl that had helped us earlier said that she had been wondering why we had just left without our churros (she had to go in the back to get them, so she didn't even see us leave), then she looked over at the display and they were gone!
I just couldn't seem to put two and two together. I'd had various different signs throughout the night telling me that these were obviously not real churros. They were heavy, HUGE, moved around a lot like how something rubber would move, didn't smell like churros, and last but not least they looked FAKE! What a night and WHAT A BLONDE! I am never going to live this one down that's for sure!
I hope you all enjoyed sharing in my dumb blondeness! I know it had a lot of little details, but that's what makes this story so funny! You have the right to make fun of me. I would too! Haha! Bye!

To My Best Friend

You are the one I live for,
The one I love to hold.
You are the one I cherish,
Our love does not grow old.
For you I would do anything,
Everyday my love grows stronger.
Will I love you till the day I die?
No, I'll love you even longer.

As you can see I am not much of a natural poet. I just thought I'd give it a shot. Love you all!

John Mayer!

I recently went to the John Mayer concert. I've loved John Mayer's music for a long time, and I was so happy I got to go to his concert. He was a great performer, and I had a wonderful time! This is my friend from high school, Kailey Bell. She and I were on the dance team together! We went to the John Mayer concert on July 31! I hadn't seen her for a year and a half, so it was really good to get to see her and go to the concert together!
This is my friend Ashley and me after the John Mayer concert. Her Mom took her to the concert and they were nice enough to give me a ride!

This is Colbie Caillat. She was the opening act for John Mayer. I was glad I got to see her too! I really like her music, and she did really well live.

Family!

We had our Hiatt reunion on July 25-27, followed by our little Brooksby family get together the next weekend. It was lots of fun! Out of the 161 members of our Hiatt family all but 19 were there! That's the biggest turn out ever! I always love having our family reunion! I've been trying to post this for weeks now, but for some reason the pictures won't upload. I don't quite know what to do?! Sorry its taking to so long. I'll try and post some pictures seperately. Wow! It worked on the first try when I posted them seperately. I guess the pictures just didn't like this post. Who knows?! Love you all!

Family Pictures!

My family, including both sets of grandparents. It's getting pretty big eh?!
The Girls! (Well adults anyway)
Some of my cousins that are around the same age as me. We always take pictures together at the cabin!
My sister Emily and me smiling for the camera!

This is Funny!

You Know You're an Arizonan When...

All of your out-of-state friends start to visit after October but clear out come the end of April.

You think someone driving wearing oven mitts is clever.

Most of the restaurants in town have the first name "El" or "Los".

You think 60 tons of crushed rock makes a beautiful yard.

You notice your car overheating before you drive it.

Your house is made of stucco and has a red clay tile roof.

You no longer associate bridges (or rivers) with water.

You can say 115 degrees without fainting.

Vehicles with open windows have the right-of-way in the summer.

People break out coats when temperature drops below 70 degrees.

You discover, in July, it only takes two fingers to drive your car.

The pool can be warmer than you are.

You run your air conditioner in the middle of winter so you can use your fireplace.

People who have black cars or black upholstery in their car are automatically assumed to be from out-of-state or nuts.

You notice the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

The AC is on your list of best friends.

You can finish a Big Gulp in 10 minutes and go back for seconds.

The water from the cold water tap is the same temperature as the hot one.

You can (correctly) pronounce the words: "Saguaro", "Ocotillo", "Tempe", "Gila Bend", "San Xavier", "Canyon de Chelly", "Mogollon Rim", "Cholla", and "Ajo".

It's noon in July, kids are on summer vacation, and not one person is walking on the streets.

You experience third degree burns if you touch any metal part of your car.

You know better than to get into a car with leather seats if you're wearing shorts.

Announcements for Fourth of July events never end with "in case of rain......

"When someone asks how far you live from a location, it's always in terms of minutes, not miles.

Everyone's smiling and talking about the great weather on rainy days.

You have to explain to out-of-staters why there is no daylight savings time.

Howdy Ya'll! It's Been a While!

Sorry! I know its been a while. Quite a bit has happened in my life in the past month. I just haven't gotten around to posting anything about it yet. Josh (my boyfriend) left on his mission a week ago Wednesday, July 23. He still has another week and a half in the MTC then he leave for Baltimore. I've gotten a letter and an email from him. They were both pretty short because they don't give the missionaries a whole lot of time for stuff like that. Anyway, he said he's doing really good. His companion Elder Hopper is from the Phoenix area, and one of his other roomates, Elder Kisbaugh is from Queen Creek. Don and Josie (and family) do you guys know him? I thought you might. He says that they are all extraordinary young men and he couldn't ask for a better companion. They all get to go to Baltimore together so he is excited about that. Anyway, I'm doing pretty good. I know Josh needs to be out there right now, and I can definitely feel the Lord comforting me and assuring me of that fact. I'm so excited for him! He is really a great young man, and he is very eager to get down to business. He has been waiting for this time for 19 years, and now it's finally here! Yay!

"And This Be Our Motto: 'In God Is Our Trust'"

As all of you well know Independence Day is this Friday. I am so greatful that we have this country that has enabled so many things to come to pass in these latter days. America was truly a chosen country from the beginning. Yesterday we sang The Star Spangled Banner as the opening hymn in sacrament meeting. We all stood as we sang with all our hearts about our love for this country. Now I've known the first verse of the national anthem for as long as I can remember, but I can honestly tell you that I had never paid attention to the other verses of the song. Anyway, as we were singing the song yesterday the last verse really hit me hard. It says,

"O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand, Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation; Blessed with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

This verse touched me so much that I started crying. I know that during times like these it is hard to trust in God when it comes to this country. I have decided that I will do my part, whatever I can do to help this country the best I can, but the rest I must leave up to the Lord. I know he will not forsake us as we go through this presidential election. Even though there are really no wonderful options at this time, we can do our best to do our part to elect a president who actually might believe in God, instead of trying to be one himself.

It makes me sick to think that people are out there trying to make everything "Godless". I hope that my kids will grow up saying "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands; one nation, UNDER GOD, Indevisable, with liberty and justice for all." I am so thankful for the founders of this nation and for their trust in the God. It gives me hope for the time to come. Well, these are just some of my thoughts about what's going on in the world right now. I hope they weren't too preachy.

Ode To Josh!!!

As most of you know I have been dating a young man for over a year and a half. His name is Josh Crandell. We have both been waiting for a very long time for this day to come. Yesterday Josh received his mission call. He is going to Baltimore, Maryland. He reports to the MTC on July 23, 2008! We weren't expecting it to be so soon, because everyone we know who has gotten a call recently is leaving in September or around that time. We were both pretty surprised. I am so excited that he gets the opportunity to serve the Lord. It will be a wonderful growing experience for him, as well as myself. I know the blessings he will receive from serving an honorable full time mission are ones that cannot be had through anything else. Josh, I wish you the very best in Baltimore!!!! I love you!

My Dreams

I've started having these dreams lately where I am somewhere going to the restroom, but cannot seem to relieve myself of the horrible feeling in my bladder. Then I always wake up and have to run to the toilet. Does anyone else have these weird dreams? The thing that is really funny is that I hardly remember any dreams, but I always remember these ones. Why is that? How do dreams work anyhow? The sub conscience is such a weird thing...This is another thing that's been on my mind lately...I know, I'm a really deep thinker!

It's Not Easy Being Blind...

I've often wondered what it would be like to be able to see when I got up in the morning. I don't remember ever being able to see, because I've had glasses since I was eight. I know this is random, but I really would love to be able to wake up and not have to squint to see the time on the quite large clock only 8 feet away from me. Anyway, that's what's been on my mind...0bviously not a whole lot, but it's something at least!

Welp everyone, I'm almost done with this semester of school...and what a semester it has been. I am so glad to be getting a break! I've got my last final on Thursday and then that's that.
Josh is moving back up to Show Low on Saturday. I'm sad, but I'm sure its good that we won't be spending every day together. He's getting ready to turn in his papers and go on a mission! All he has left is getting his blood tests back and his interviews. I'm so excited for him to go. It will make both of us so much stronger, and trust in the Lord even more!
I got a call last Friday as I was babysitting Melis and Brad's kids asking if I would be willing to speak on Mother's Day. The topic I was asked to speak on is...Mothers (shocking I know)! I think I'm going to speak on the Strippling Warriors and add in some stuff from Julie B. Beck's talk, "Mother's Who Know." If anyone has any insights or ideas please let me know. Well, I better go to bed, I've got work in the morning!

Another posting, finally!

I figure I should post another thing since I made my blog about a month ago and haven't done anything more to it. So here it is. Josh and I have been dating for 1 and 1/2 years. He's going on a mission soon, and I am super excited about it. I can't wait for him to serve the lord for two years. He is my best friend. Here are some pictures I have of us together.

My blog

Well I finally did it...I have a blog. My blog is not going to be very exciting, because I don't have any adorable little kids or an exciting life. Sorry. I promise I'll try to make it as interesting as possible though. I'm just sick of being the one left out! Enjoy my new blog!
